During this weeks Wayne County Commissioners meeting, Scott Satterfield, President of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, presented a resolution in honor of County Manager Craig Honeycutt and his work for Wayne County. Honeycutt has led the County since 2018 and is leaving Wayne County at the end of this month. The Board unanimously approved June 21, 2022 as Craig Honeycutt Day in Wayne County.

Chairman Joe Daughtery thanked Craig Honeycutt for his service to Wayne County. During Craig’s service, the following projects were completed: the completion of the John Bell Probation and Parole Building, completion of the Joe Gurley Emergency Operations Center, completion of Meadow Lane Elementary School, completion of five EMS stations, the sale of the Bussmann Building, the sale of the Lot 8 shell building, a pay study to reduce compression and increase retention of employees, Jetport expansion, opening of the Maxwell Center, securing a hotel for the Maxwell Center, a new automotive facility at Wayne Community College, a new DSS/Health facility started, a new jail expansion begun, and new department managers who have become great leaders. All these projects took place while dealing with COVID-19, hurricanes, and the loss of three Commissioners.
