Thomas Randal “Randy” Herring, Jr.

Thomas Randal “Randy” Herring, Jr.

June 10, 2022, 51, La Grange –

With full confidence of salvation through Jesus Christ, Thomas Randal “Randy” Herring, Jr. placed his hand in the nail-scarred hand of his Savior as he stepped from this life into glory. Randy was born in Wayne County to Randal Herring and Judy Herring on May 9, 1971.

With a love of the land that was instilled from his birth, Randy loved tending to his cattle, cleaning, clearing, or cultivating land, and pretty much any activity that could keep him outside. A reprieve from the heat of the day was found at Bojangles or Ken’s Grill—two places you could find him almost daily.

Recognizing the call of his Lord to enter ministry, Randy served as both a missionary and a pastor. He loved people too much to sugarcoat the truth, and his primary goals in life were to share the love of Jesus and see the salvation of others. Never looking for honor or prestige, he believed he was just a simple man responding to the direction of his Lord.

Randy loved his family immensely, most especially his wife, best friend, and helpmate, Kristy. A true example of holy marriage, Randy loved his wife as Christ loves the church.

A service to honor and remember Randy’s life will be held by the graveside at Fairview Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14th, 2022. The family will receive friends following the service.

Randy was adorned with many titles: husband to Kristy Alston Herring; son to Randal and Gail Herring, Judy and Dennis Hill, and Reggie and Debbie Alston; brother to Keith and Shari Herring, Reggie IV and Mary Susan Alston, John and Anna Alston, Jeff Alston, Caroline Alston, and Kate and Roy King; “Unca Randy” to his nieces and nephews; friend to many; pastor to his church family at Berean Fellowship; and most importantly, child of God.
