James S Lane, 74, of Goldsboro, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at home surrounded by his family. James was born in Johnston County on March 12, 1948 to the late Ralph Steven Lane and Wilma Ruth Pierce Lane.

James is survived by his wife, Gloria Baker; son, James Steven Lane, Jr. and wife Hilary of Hampstead; daughter, Ruth Ann Gossett and husband Tim of Smithfield; brother, Kenneth Earl Lane and wife Michelle of Pikeville; niece and nephew, April, Alex, and Brandyn; grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Christian, Tyler, and Lilly; great grandchildren, Conner, Ayden, Seth and several other family and friends.

James was a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, brother, and friend. While not working, he enjoyed fishing and cooking. He loved riding down the country roads and cracking jokes. His sense of humor was one of a kind. He loved his cats and dogs, but most importantly he loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandbabies. He will be dearly missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Goldsboro with Reverend Dennis Pollock officiating.
