William McNeal Jones, better known as Neal Jones, age 61, Mount Olive resident, passed away early Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Neal was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Southerland Jones; his parents, John William “Bill” and Faye Malpass Jones; and Ann’s parents, Edward A. and Dorothy Southerland. He was an employee with Mt. Olive Pickle Company in its maintenance division with 38 years of service. Also, he was a carpenter.

Neal is survived by his son and “daughter,” Jonathan E. and Bobbie Jones of Grantham; two grandsons, Bryson Jones and Elijah Jones, both of Grantham; a sister and brother-in-law, Melissa Jones Little and Darryl Little of Seven Springs; a niece, Cortney Jones; a nephew, Tommy Little; and Ann’s brothers, E. A. Southerland, Jr. with Kay Blocksidge of Wilmington, William Robert Southerland of Dallas, Texas, and Johnny Southerland of Mount Olive.

The Jones and Southerland families will have visitation at Tyndall Funeral Home on Saturday, June 11, from 5 until 7 p.m. At other times, they welcome friends to the home of Darryl and Missy Little.

Neal, a loving son, husband, brother, daddy, granddaddy, uncle and friend, will be dearly missed.
