June 5, 2022, 85, Goldsboro –

In the early morning of June 5, 2022, Frances Jean Harris Turnage, age 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, while surrounded by her family in her home. Jean was born in the Maury community of Pitt County to the late Thad Harris & Betty McLawhorn Harris. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by all her siblings; Willie Harris, Thad Harris Jr., Elmer Harris, Ray Harris, Joyce Harris Vick & Doris Harris Vandiford.

Jean was a seamstress at Barry & Excell Linde, where she excelled in her trade at both home and work. Her life revolved around her family but was led by her Lord and Savior. Jean was a devoted member of Black Jack Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church where she faithfully served. She was active in the ladies circle group, choir, and Sunday School.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday 11:00 AM at Black Jack Gove OFWB. with the Rev. Franklin Lane Officiating, interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park, Dudley, NC. The family will have a time of visiting with family and friends Tuesday evening, June 7th between the hours 6:00-8:00pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home & Crematory and at other times at the home.

Jean is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Roy Daniel Turnage. Sons Michael Daniel Turnage and wife Darlene of Wildwood, Fl. Randy Ray Turnage and wife Shannon of Goldsboro. Grandchildren – Heather Richard (Nick), Holly Holmes (Jason), Mary Korch, Jesse Turnage, Kayla Holmes (Michael), Thomas Turnage, and Trace Turnage. Also, nine great-grandchildren – Lilly, Evan, and Taylor Holmes; Naomi, Liam, and Logan Richard, Wyatt and Tristen Holmes and Ellie Shaw.

The Turnage family would like to extend a Special Thank You to the Wonderful and God send staff at Community Hospice, her devoted Pastor Franklin Lane and all of her church family at Black Jack Grove. Also, a special thanks to Granddaughter Heather Richard for all the love and compassion provided during the short illness.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Black Jack Grove OFWB Church.
