Fatal Traffic Crash In Goldsboro

On June 2, 2022, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers of the Goldsboro Police Department were on routine patrol in the downtown area of Goldsboro when they saw a vehicle traveling northbound on Center St. at a high rate of speed. The officers turned around to investigate, and the vehicle continued on Center St at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle; however, due to its speed officers quickly lost sight of the vehicle.

Other officers responded to the area of Center Street and Royall Avenue to attempt to locate the suspect vehicle. It was then discovered that the suspect vehicle had crashed and overturned onto the railroad tracks behind the Holly Street Warehouse at E. Holly Street and N. Center Street.

One occupant of the vehicle was found to be entrapped in the vehicle. Goldsboro Fire Department and Wayne County EMS units responded to free this occupant, who was then transported to Wayne UNC Healthcare and then transferred to ECU Health Medical Center (Vidant) in Greenville with life threatening injuries. Two other occupants were ejected from the vehicle and were declared deceased on the scene.

Following further investigation into this incident, all three occupants of the vehicle involved in this single-car crash have been identified and the next of kin notified. The ages of the three occupants are 12, 13 and 14. The investigation in this matter is ongoing.
