May 28, 2022, 80, Princeton –

Joseph Wesley Champion, 80, of Bizzell Grove Church Rd. Princeton, died Saturday, May 28, 2022.  Mr. Champion was born September 28, 1941in Columbus County and was the son of the late Joe Lewis Champion and Lela Blanche Benton Champion.  He was preceded in death by his wife Judith Carolyn Beasley Champion.

Mr. Champion attended Wilson Mills Church of God. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed fishing and bowling.  He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him and he will forever be in our hearts.

The Funeral Service will be conducted 7:00 pm Thursday June 2, 2022 at Wilson Mills Church of God, Wilson Mills, NC with the Reverend Larry Hunt officiating.  The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 pm until 6:45 pm prior to the funeral service. The Committal will be held 10:00 am Friday June 3, 2022 at Hills of The Neuse Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by sons; Howard Joseph Wood Jr. of Smithfield, Joseph Michael Champion of Wilmington, Peter Jamison Champion and (Donna) of Wilmington, sister; Lela Robinson of Kelly, grandchildren; Joseph (Kelsey), Wesley (Stefanie), Dawn (Justin), Nikki, J. T., Hayden, great grandchildren; Brayden, Finley, Durkio, Cohen, Zoey, Devin, Jon and Vinny, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
