Gene Turner Dail, 75, passed away at Kitty Askins Hospice Center on Wednesday, May 25, 2022. Born in Duplin County on April 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Martin Luther Dail and Emily Turner Lanier.

Gene was a Vietman War Veteran, courageously serving in the United States Navy. After the Navy, Gene worked as a repairman for Bellsouth.

Gene will be remembered as a master tinkerer. Gene had a knack to be able to make something out of nothing. In his free time, Gene also enjoyed wood-working and fishing.

A service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors. The family request those attending to dress casual for the services.

Gene is survived by his wife of 53 years, Connie Dail; daughter, April Barnes and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Charlie Carmichael, Chelsey Drake, and Brendan Barnes; great-grandchildren, Nate Drake, Melody Drake, Legend Carmichael, and Declan Billig; and sister, Emily Sue Picket.

In addition to his parents, Gene is preceded in death by his siblings, Ellen Ann Stonecypher, Grace Rouse, Terry Dail, and Wayne Dail.
