James Nolan “Jimmy” Skelton, 69, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born in Rockingham County, NC on October 25, 1952, he was the son of the late James Doyle and Marjorie Bennye Hazel Skelton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Setrecia Leaks.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 28 years, Denise Skelton; children, Sadiqa Parker, DeShundar Glenn, Terissa Leaks, DeKeitrick Leaks, and Michelle Leaks; grandchildren, Rahsahn, Ziera, Ayanna, Nyasia, Shakur, Samir, Shaquan, Semaj, and Quashaya; and nine great-grandchildren.

Jimmy graduated from Barringer High School in Newark, New Jersey. He furthered his education while attending Fayetteville State University. Jimmy worked and later retired as a head custodian with Wayne County Public Schools.

Jimmy loved sports, especially football. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Jimmy had a gentle spirit and was quite the jokester.

A service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
