Evelyn Grace Beasley Jones

May 13, 2022, 92, Oak Ridge –

Mrs. Evelyn Grace Beasley Jones, 92, of the Oak Ridge Community in northern Duplin County, passed away Friday morning, May 13, 2022 at her home.

Services will be held by the graveside Monday, May 16, at 2 pm. at the Jones Family Cemetery across from the residence. Minister Coy Brock will preside. The family will greet friends and relatives at the cemetery following the service, and at other times, at the home of Keith and Connie Jones.

Mrs. Evelyn Jones was a member of Jones Memorial Community Church having joined when she was but in her teens, and of which she served as treasurer and Sunday School teacher in years to come. A community-oriented lady, she served as secretary/treasurer of the Oak Ridge Community Building for many years. The consummate homemaker, she doted on her family including husband, her parents and his, children, siblings, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and yes, even great-great-grandchildren.

The loving family who survives her include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn J. and Raymond Cochran of Four Oaks; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Connie Miller Jones of Mount Olive; a brother, Robert Beasley of Seven Springs; grandchildren, Cheri Gray and husband, Scott, Greg Koch (husband of deceased granddaughter, Laurie “Jaye” J. Koch), D. L. Jones and wife, Tracie, Hollie J. Martin and husband, Brandon, and Jonas Jones; great-grandchildren, Kristen J. Hamm and husband, Ben, Mikayla Koch, Rayanna Koch, Hunter Jones, Danny Grace Jones, Logan Jones, Kasey Jones, Hannah Martin, Meghan Martin, Branson Martin, and Aleisha Gray; great-great-grandchildren, Grayson Hamm and Connor Hamm; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kirby and Mary Jane Jones of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her granddaughter, Jaye, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Dalton Ray “Papa” Jones, to whom she was married for 73 years; her parents, Eddie Burke Beasley and Clara Long Beasley; a sister, Barbara Annette Beasley; a sister-in-law, Susie Beasley; a brother-in-law, Edwin Jones; and the elder Joneses, Samuel Elbert and Mamie Lane Jones.

The Jones family wishes to acknowledge and thank the following caregivers for their ongoing devotion and support in looking after our beloved Mimi: Betty Jo Hobbs, Ashley Price, Felicia Austin, Amy Hobbs-Davis, Tracy Turnage, Janet Hamm, Leigh Ann Underhill, Patricia Miller, and Lexie Miller. They also express deep appreciation to Community Health and Hospice, especially Julie Lee, for superb assistance and gracious understanding.
