County Manager Craig Honeycutt Announces Resignation

County Manager Craig Honeycutt announced his resignation today to accept an assistant city manager position with the City of Burlington, North Carolina. Honeycutt was hired by Wayne County on March 13, 2017 as the assistant county manager and was promoted to county manager on January 3, 2018. His last day of work is June 30, 2022.

“On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, we appreciate Craig’s service to Wayne County,” said Chairman Joe Daughtery. “We wish him the best and thank him for his leadership on economic development, capital projects, and educational improvements.”

The Board of Commissioners will immediately begin the process of seeking a replacement for the County Manager position.

“I appreciate the Board and staff for my time in Wayne County,” said Honeycutt. “I will truly miss the community and the people here. We have been through a lot in the past few years, from hurricanes to a global pandemic. I am looking forward to being closer to my family, and I believe that the future is bright for Wayne County.”
