April 26, 2022, 62, Dudley –

Martin Carl Thornton Sr., 62, of Dudley passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at the home of his daughter, Diana and surrounded by his loving family.

His wishes were no formal services be held.

Martin was born in France to Cleo and Shirley Thornton.  He loved his family more than anything.  Martin enjoyed fishing, the Carolina Panthers, Florida Seminoles and the Florida Gators.  He will be sorely missed by all that loved him.

He is survived by his children, Martin Carl Thornton Jr. (Kendall) of Ayden, Diana Gordillo Mendez (Ugo) of Dudley and Rebecca Martinez (Luis) of Hookerton; his brother, Charles Quinn of La Grange; his sister, Elaine Gaylon of Grifton; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and the mother of his children, Wilma Edwards (Wilbert) of Dudley.

In addition to his parents, Martin was preceded in death by one sister, Sandra Mann.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to 3HC Home Health & Hospice for all the care and compassion given to their father during his sickness.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
