Carlos Anthony Reyes

Carlos Anthony Reyes

April 26, 2022, 14, Goldsboro –

Carlos Anthony Reyes, 14, was unexpectedly taken from our lives on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Although absent in form, his imprint is forever embellished on our hearts and his soul lives eternally with his Lord. Anthony was born in Goldsboro on September 12, 2007 to proud and loving parents, Carlos Reyes and Michele Pennington.

An eighth-grade student at North Johnston Middle School, Anthony excelled at many sports. Though trying his hand at many, none were better loved by him than soccer and football.

Anthony would rather be outside than anywhere else. Enjoying the beauty of nature, time spent playing sports, on the water, on the beach, swimming, or fishing with his dad brought ultimate joy. Time outside compounded by time spent with his family was time cherished by them all.

Possessing an infectious love for everyone, Anthony quickly made friends and was admired for his genuine, quirky personality. A love of country music and great skill in gaming served as excellent pastimes and were sources of commonality with friends.

Raised in a Christian family, Anthony professed Jesus as his Lord and lived out the greatest commandments: to love the Lord with all his mind, soul, and strength, and to love his neighbor as himself. Relationships with family and friends proved his love for them and reflected his love for God.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 2011 Azalea Drive, Goldsboro, NC. A service to celebrate Anthony’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Oak Forest Church of Christ, 2705 N. Park Drive, Goldsboro. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to his parents, Anthony is survived by his brother, Alex Castro; sister, Melissa Reyes; step-brothers, Isaac Reyes and Isaiah Reyes; maternal grandmother, Vivian Combs Pennington; paternal grandmother, Gladis Avila; paternal great-grandmother, Teresa Avila; uncles and aunts, Mike Pennington, William Pennington, Ronald Pennington, Wilmer Avila, Sandra Avila, Josue Avila, Denia Avila, Nubia Avila, Tere Avila, Idalia Avila and Flor Avila; special cousins, Jacob Pennington, Kayla Pennington, Embry Pennington, and Gage Pennington; as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins he loved very much. He is also survived by his first love, Emely and his best friends, Patrick and Alex, whom he loved like his brothers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be given in Anthony’s memory to help in the expenses for his funeral arrangements in care of Seymour Funeral Home, 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC.
