Letter Carriers To Collect Food From Homes In Wayne County

The United Way of Wayne County is once again partnering with local and rural Letter Carriers to collect 30,000 pounds of food. After two years of forced hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, residents who live in zip codes 27530, 27531, 27532, 27533, 27534 can place non-perishable food items in their mailbox on May 14th, 2022.

Letter carriers will will bring donations back to the post office to be sorted and distributed to participating local agencies. Residents who are living outside of the aforementioned zip codes or are not able to make their donations on May 14th, may take them to either the Berkley Station Post Office or the Downtown Post Office on William Street, where bins will be placed in the lobbies of both Post Offices.

The Letter Carriers request only canned, boxed, or bagged non-perishable items that have not expired. This year’s food drive will be distributed to stock organizations in Wayne County including The Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro, HGDC Community Crisis Center, The Salvation Army, and Pete Norris Ministries.
