April 8, 2022, 90, Goldsboro –

Dorothy Kelly Thornton, a native of Duplin County and long-time resident of the Grantham community, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at Somerset Court of Goldsboro, the place she had called home for the last several years. She was 90.

In earlier years, she had worked at Burlington Industries in Mount Olive, but for the latter years of her life, she was a care provider for children in her home and was lovingly referred to as “Grandma Dorothy.”

She was a member of Eureka Christian Church, and it is there that a service for remembering her will be held Thursday, April 14, at 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Frank Purvis and the Rev. Debora Stilley.

Mrs. Thornton was the widow of Bob Thornton and was the daughter of the late John Frank Kelly and Annie Cook Kelly.

Those left behind to mourn her passing are nieces and nephews, as well as her church family at Eureka Church.
