(GDN) – On Wednesday, April 6, at approximately 4:38 a.m., the Goldsboro Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire in the 2300 block of US Highway 117 South. Engines 1, 2, 3, 4, and Tower One responded with 17 personnel, along with the Mar-Mac Fire Department and the Thoroughfare Fire Department.

Mar-Mac Fire Department Chief Tommy Baker said, “The fire is still under investigation by the Goldsboro Fire Department, but it did appear to be unintentional.”

The Mar-Mac Fire Department arrived on the scene prior to the Goldsboro Fire Department and reported light smoke inside the structure as well as an active fire around the vent system. Firefighters say they discovered flames above the ceiling. The business had extensive damage to the kitchen area as well as heat and smoke damage.
