Alice Lorraine Grant Kearney, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Brian Center of Goldsboro. Born in Wayne County on October 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Lois Whitley Grant.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Kearney; and brother, William “Billy” Grant.

Lorraine is survived by her sons, Rex Kearney and Michael Kearney; brother, James W. Grant, all of Goldsboro; sisters-in-law, Barbara Grant and Carol Lanaville, both of Goldsboro and Sarah Kearney of Snow Hill; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Lorraine enjoyed many things, like meeting with her friends for fellowship and lunch at Wilber’s Barbecue or her favorite pastime, jewelry shopping, but her love for working with flowers topped the list. She truly had a “green thumb” and could make anything grow. Family and friends would often stop by on summer evenings to watch her “moon plants” open under the setting of the sun. Nothing made her any happier.

A graveside service to celebrate Lorraine’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Wayne Memorial Park with Pastor Tim Grant officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
