March 21, 2022, 80, Pikeville –

Gerald Ulysses Pate, 80 of Pikeville passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022 at 3 p.m. at Community Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

Mr. Pate was born in Wayne County on November 5, 1941 to the late Ulysses and Ethel Sullivan Pate.  He was a faithful member of Community Baptist Church.  Mr. Pate retired from Firestone Center in Wilson after 28 years of service.  In his earlier years, Mr. Pate enjoyed going to the Moose Lodge in Wilson.  In his latter years, after the passing of his wife, Barbara, Gerald enjoyed spending time traveling with his son, Kron and daughter-in-law, Hope.

He is survived by his son, Gerald Kron Pate and wife, Hope of Goldsboro and Kelly Ann Pate of Pikeville; one grandson, Darren Pate; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Garrett Pate; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie Crocker and Jeremy Blow; four step-great-grandchildren, Timothy Vick, Thomas Vick, Skylar Vick and Addison Blow and one great-great-grandson, Tyler Vick.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Pate was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Pate and his brother, Billy Pate.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
