Evelyn Hill Westbrook

March 22, 2022, 94, Goldsboro –

Evelyn Hill Westbrook, 94, was received by her Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 22, 2022. Evelyn was born February 8, 1928 in Wayne County to the late George and Inez Johnson-Hill.

Evelyn had worked for many years with Kemp Furniture. She later began working with her husband, Norman Westbrook, in the family business, NEWCO, which was an automobile auction company.

Ebby, as she was known by her family, was a profoundly caring person with a kind, gentle spirit that radiated compassion. Everyone who knew her loved her, and everyone she knew, she also loved. One of Evelyn’s greatest gifts was her concern for others. Evelyn loved and lived Christ-like, radiating His light in the world. She found great joy in service to others.

Evelyn enjoyed working in her yard. She loved growing flowers and vegetables which she shared with her family and friends. She immensely enjoyed seeing God’s hands create nature’s beauty.

Evelyn would always give sound advice and loved to share the good news of the Lord. She loved her church, The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member for her entire life. She loved to sing in the choir and assist in preparing bereavement meals for the church. Evelyn was involved in many other activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. She also attended St. Joseph United Methodist Church in Pikeville with her daughter, Phyllis. Evelyn could often be found singing in their choir for special services.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church followed by a service to celebrate Evelyn’s life at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Bill Rose, Rev. Daniel Rollins, and Rev. Rose Hicks officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Phyllis Hembree of Goldsboro; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family she loved very much including her beloved Westbrook Family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman H. Westbrook; sisters, Dorothy H. Rollins, Jackie H. Holloman, and Agnes Hill; and brothers, David R. Hill, Alton Hill, George F. Hill, and Charles Hill.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
