(GDN) – Good news for students and staff at Wayne County Public Schools.  Executive Director, Ken Derksen says, “As the community metrics decreased since the Omicron surge, reported COVID-19 cases amongst students and staff have also decreased.  In looking at current cases, last week there were only two cases reported district-wide. There were four cases reported the previous week. During the peak of the Omicron surge, on-campus cases in early January rose to 482 in the highest week of reporting.”  Derksen says a mask optional policy for students and staff remains in place for the district.
