Harold Edward “Eddie” Massengill, Jr., 57, fought the good fight and finished his race on Saturday, March 19, 2022. He was born in Wayne County to the late Harold Massengill, Sr. and Ila Lee Holland Massengill on March 16, 1965.

Eddie married his long-time love Bobbie Massengill, on December 13, 2021.

He was a dedicated employee of Baker Thermal Solutions and enjoyed his work as a fabrication and welding supervisor.

Eddie spent his life devoted to racing. Many knew Eddie to be a great driver, avid fan and exceptional crew member for his beloved racing family. He found joy and passion in the sport that has united many generations of the Massengill family.

Beyond his passion for racing, Eddie loved his two dogs Tank and Remi. They would spend their days playing and enjoying being outside before settling into their nightly routine.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 21, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service to celebrate Eddie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Bobbie Massengill; two sons, Trey and Blake Massengill, stepdaughter, Shelby Wiggins; and sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Danny Mitchell.

The family would like to extend their special appreciation to Jennifer with Community Home Care and Hospice who provided wonderful care allowing Eddie to spend his final days at home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Eddie’s memory to Community Home Care and Hospice, 2309 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
