Susan S. Dacosin, 57, passed away early Tuesday morning, February 15, 2022, while in the comforting care of Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 17, at 2 p.m. at Peace Baptist Church in Calypso, officiated by Pastor Russ Evans, with a time of visitation and fellowship to follow.

Susan is survived by her son, Dillon Dacosin and his wife, Heather Deen, of Jacksonville, five grandchildren, Cayden Dacosin, Giovonni Arrostute, Haylee Deen, Kenlie McCarty, and Kai Dacosin; her father, James Mariano Dacosin of Hawaii; her step-father, Jerry Gehling of Statesville; brothers, Bernard Dacosin, Reginald Gehling, James Dacosin, Jr., Ryan Dacosin, Darren Dacosin, Nathan Dacosin; sisters, Christine Farrar, Jeri Leonard, Nancy Dacosin, Nattie Glanstein, Jamie Dacosin, Josie Dacosin, and Jimenette Dacosin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Mae Hammond Gehling; and a brother, Dennis Dacosin.

Susan had lived the last few years in the home with her “foster mother,” Carolyn Cottle and husband, William “Bean” Cottle in Calypso. Her life’s work had been that of managing a Huddle House Restaurant, as a waitress with Golden Corral, working at Georgia Pacific, and in being a caregiver for homebound individuals.
