The Staff and Management of Williams & Ashford Funeral DIrectors join with the Darden and connected families to announce the earthly transition of Mrs. Gladys Darden, 70, of Goldsboro.
Ms. Gladys Elizabeth Lee Darden, daughter of the late Luby and Vera Lee, was born on September 1, 1951 in Wayne County. She departed this life on February 13, 2022 surrounded by her loved ones. She was married to the late Elder Lonnie Darden in November 28, 1969.
Reared in Mt. Olive, NC, Gladys graduated from Carver High School. Gladys was employed with Burlington Industries for over 25 years up until 2001. In 2005 she graduated from Wayne Community College with an Associates of Applied Science in Medical Systems Technology. Her last place of employment was as a teacher assistant at North Drive Elementary School Goldsboro, NC where she had an overwhelming love for children.
A woman of faith, Gladys was a faithful member of Goshen Disciple of Christ Church Faison, NC and served as a choir member, hospitality committee member, kitchen committee member, usher, and church mother.
In her free time, Gladys loved to cook, shop, sew and spend time with family.
She leaves to cherish her memories…
Daughters: Tonia D. Hawkins of Kinston, NC and Danielle Nicole (Jimmy) Frederick of Pikeville, NC; Willie Lee (Doris) of Philadelphia, PA; Alfonza Lee (Brenda) of Dudley, NC; Luby E. Lee (Dale) of Fayetteville, NC; Vernon Lee (Christine) of Mt. Olive; NC.; Bernard Lee of Mt. Olive NC; and seven daughters, Virginia M. Thomas (Phillip) of Indian Head, Maryland; Marva L. Preatty of Mt. Olive, NC; Sharon Greenfield (Fane) of Seven Springs, NC; Wanda C. Higgs (Leland) of Mt. Olive, NC; Vera J. McCullen (Herman) of Mt. Olive, NC; and Barbara J. Johnson (Tony) of Columbus, GA; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren. A host of other family members/relatives, special friends and coworkers.
