Gary Glenn Bowen, 68, passed away on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Genesis Health Care in Mount Olive.

Gary was born in Wayne County to the late C.L. Bowen, Jr. and Alma Campbell Bowen on August 27, 1953. He had worked as a supervisor with Nortel for many years. Gary spent many years helping animals in need, often sacrificing his own needs so that the cats could live better. There are many cherished animals that were given homes because of his care and concern for their welfare.

Gary will lie in state at Seymour Funeral Home on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. at May’s Chapel O.F.W.B. Church in Dudley. A service to celebrate Gary’s life will follow the time of visitation at 5:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. David Kriger officiating. A private interment will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Gary is survived by his sister, Karen Bowen of Dudley; uncle and aunt, Chester and Norma Bowen of Pilot Mountain; and several cousins he loved very much. He is also survived by his beloved cats, Daisy, Coco, Smokey, Junior, Pale Face, Patches and Sam.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Gary’s memory to the Nellie Outlaw Family Life Center, in care of May’s Chapel O.F.W.B. Church.
