February 9, 2022, 87, Princeton –

Rachel Lee Tyner Woodard, 87, of Princeton passed away at Wake Med Cary Hospital on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.  She was born in Wayne County on February 24, 1934 to the late Monroe Tyner and Hettie Mooring Tyner.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Ralph Woodard, and 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Rachel, along with her husband, Ralph were foster parents to numerous children.  She was a member of Princeton Church of God for over 60 years.  She was active for as long as her health allowed.  She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.  She also enjoyed traveling with her friends and the Young at Heart from her church.  They traveled to various locations and she gathered many fond memories.  Rachel also enjoyed trips to the North Carolina coast.

She is survived by son, Earl Woodard and wife, Nancy of Princeton; daughter, Linda Woodard of Princeton; grandchildren, Will Woodard and wife, Ashley of Princeton, and A. J. Woodard and wife, Jennie of Smithfield; great grandchildren, Anali, Isabella, Aedan, Noah, and Austin; 3 sisters and 2 brothers as well as many foster children including Jerry Ashworth and wife, Jimi.

The family would like to thank the special caregivers for Rachel, Jennie Woodard, Summer Boyette, Kim Gurley, and the nursing staff at Wake Med Cary ICU.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm and after the service on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.

The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm with the Reverend Matthew Cornett and Reverend Dustin Lee officiating.  The burial will be in Princeton Cemetery.
