Betty Massengill McKeel, 95, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at her home. Born in Johnston County on September 7, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Andrew and Mabel Pilkington Massengill.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Jodie McKeel; siblings, H.V. Massengill, Sr., Doris Mae Massengill Summerlin, Linwood Massengill, Norman Massengill, and Theron Massengill.

Betty is survived by her son, Kenneth Floyd McKeel and wife, Tracy; grandchildren, Bryce McKeel, Tanner McKeel, and Addyson McKeel; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty had worked as a sales rep with World Book Encyclopedia and later for Home Security Life Insurance Company. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Betty was also a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Seymour Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Pilkington Family Cemetery in Pine Level with Rev. Charles Vernon Braswell and Hospice Chaplain Raymond Mizelle officiating.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Community Home Care & Hospice for the loving care they provided to Betty in her final days.
