(GDN) — Wayne County’s unemployment rate continues its downward trend. The latest figures from the N.C. Department of Commerce show Wayne County’s seasonally unadjusted jobless rate dropped to 3.4% in December. That’s a slight improvement from the 3.6% unemployment rate reported in November, and well-improved from the 6.2% rate recorded in December of 2020. The preliminary figures show over 1,700 people out of Wayne County’s 51,000 person workforce were considered unemployed this past December.
