Carolyn Brinson Cox, 85, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at her son’s home in Grantsboro. Born in Pamlico County on December 24, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Jarvis V. Brinson and Bessie Cahoon Brinson.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Ezekiel M. “Zeke” Cox; and daughter, Jerri Leigh Cox Bilodeau.

As a dedicated member of Brogden United Methodist Church in Dudley, Carolyn always shared the love of God in all she did. Throughout their lives, Carolyn and Zeke served their Lord together in various ministries at the church. After moving to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Carolyn began worshiping where she grew up in Pamlico County at Amity Christian Church.

Carolyn enjoyed life and spending time with her family and friends. She was a valued employee of the Wayne County Public School System for over 25 years.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Jimmy Cox and wife, Cathy; son-in-law, Gerald Bilodeau; grandchildren, Amber C. Lancaster and husband Johnathan, Alisha Cox-Sawyer and husband Caleb, Brian E. Cox and wife Ali, Ashleigh Bilodeau and Christal Bilodeau; great-grandchildren, Piper Lancaster, Aria Cox, Aubrey Williams, Ezekiel L. Cox, and was anticipating the birth of a great-grandson in April. She is also survived by her brother, Roy Brinson, Sr. and wife Shirley; and several nieces and nephews she loved very much.

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Carolyn’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Kenny Conner officiating. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
