Before a tri-match against Eastern Wayne and Southern Wayne, the C.B. Aycock wrestling team honored coach Mark Bass for his dedication to the C.B. Aycock wrestling program.

Bass has been a part of the C.B. Aycock wrestling program for 25 years and has been instrumental in the wrestling program’s success.

He has coached three wrestlers to state title, 15 different placers, 16 regional champions, 11 conference wrestlers of the year, 30 100-win wrestlers, and countless other wrestlers.

On and off the mat for the last 25 years, Bass played an important role in the life of every student-athlete who wrestled at C.B. Aycock.

And on Wednesday evening, the Golden Falcons did their coach proud and celebrated senior night by sweeping Southern Wayne and Eastern Wayne.

Against Southern Wayne, Samad Wooten, senior Eli Davis, Chance Sauls, Antwain Grantham, Dallas Bailey, Jaiden Moses, Skylyr Hill, Jaden Bevell, Alexander Reyes, Russell Davis and Axl Perry all picked up victories as the Golden Falcons won 63-18.

After Southern Wayne defeated Eastern Wayne, the Golden Falcons faced off against the Warriors and won 72-4. Davis, Sauls, Travis Burton, Bailey, Christopher Ezzell, Moses, Hill, Bevell, Davis, Perry, Wooten and Dawson Sauls all earned wins.
