Charles Lee King, 74, of Faison, passed away late Saturday morning, January 15, 2022 while a patient at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Charles Lee was the son of the late Charles Edward “C.E.” and Kathryn Taylor McKenzie King. He had been employed in various careers but perhaps the most meaningful were the years at Bay Valley Foods and the Town of Faison as recreation director. Charles Lee was a member of the 1966 graduating class of North Duplin High School and he went on to play baseball at Chowan College. In the superlatives groupings in his high school class, he was named Mr. North Duplin.
Charles Lee is survived by his children, Joy King Pate and husband, Lee Pate of Faison, and Chuck King and wife, Belinda Williamson King of Faison; five beloved grandchildren, Abbey Pate, Hunt Pate, Nick King, Cassy King, and Katie King, all of Faison; his former wife and the mother of their children, Joyce Taylor King of Faison; a sister, Debbie Lane and husband, Ken, of Clinton; and other family members.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 19, at 3 p.m. in the Faison Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Ashley Summerlin.
