Boys Basketball: Faison Scores 43, Goldsboro Runs Past Princeton (PHOTO GALLERY)

Ta’Korrie Faison exploded for 43 points, and Goldsboro ran past Princeton on Friday night.

The Cougars seized control early and capitalized on the Bulldogs’ foul trouble to earn a 71-58 Neuse Six 2A Conference win.

With Faison scoring 14 points, the Cougars excelled in the first quarter and opened up a 28-8 lead.

Princeton fought back in the second quarter. The Bulldogs outscored the Cougars 17-9 in the second quarter and trailed 37-25 at halftime.

However, Faison scored 12 points in the third quarter and helped increase the Cougars’ lead to 59-39 at the end of the third quarter.

Goldsboro had no issues closing out the game in the fourth quarter.

Tajmari Joyner added nine points for the Cougars. Aden Taylor led Princeton with 19 points, but Taylor got in foul trouble early in the game and had to sit for portions of it.

Goldsboro (7-4 overall, 2-0) entertains North Johnston (9-6, 2-0) on Tuesday, while the Bulldogs (4-4, 1-1) host Spring Creek (9-6).
