City To Host Virtual Event Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

For the second year, the City of Goldsboro’s Commission on Community Relations and Development will host a virtual event honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The theme of this year’s event is “Empowering Our Community, Building Peace: It Starts with Me.” The event will stream live at noon Monday, Jan. 17, on the City’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/www.ci.goldsboro.nc.us).

“We had hoped and planned for an in-person event this year, however, after some consideration, we decided it would be best to hold the event virtually in light of current COVID numbers, ” said Felecia Williams, community relations and development director.

Dr. Jessie L. Tucker, president and CEO of Wayne UNC Health Care, will be the keynote speaker for the event. The program will feature performances by Victoria Atkins and the GHS Cougar Showstoppers, Judy Owens and members of the Goldsboro Youth Council. Kay-Tee of 92.7 JAMZ will host the event.
