January 2, 2022, 38, Mount Olive –

Shanna Grace Simmons, 38, of Mt. Olive passed away peacefully with her friends by her side Sunday, January 2, 2022.

Visitation will be held held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.  A celebration of her life will follow at 7 p.m. at The Gray Family Farm next to New Hope Volunteer Fire Department.   At her request, no black clothing should be worn, only something comfortable and colorful!

Shanna was born in Florida on February 12, 1983.  She was a paramedic with the Wayne County EMS for over 12 years and served in Emergency Services for many years prior to coming to Wayne County.  She will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by her father, Larry Simmons; her daughter who was the love of her life, Alexis Grace Simmons; two brothers, Jason Simmons and Troy Simmons and her niece, Mackenzie.  She is also survived by her loving and special friends, Scott Disch, Sandie Sudduth, Marian Johnson, Karen Reinier, Breann Sleppy and all of her hospice, paramedic & EMS family along with countless other close friends.

Shanna was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred “Millie” Simmons.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory where condolences and remembrances may be posted to the family in her honor.
