January 3, 2022, 85, Dudley –

Ada Rose Massey Jones passed away at SECU Johnston County Hospice House in Smithfield, NC on Monday, January 3, 2022 at the age of 85.  By faith, she entered her eternal home with God and was made whole.  Mrs. Jones was born and raised in Newton Grove, the youngest daughter of the late James Randolph Massey and Civel Ola Edwards Massey.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William Gene Jones, January 27, 2021.  Ada was an active member at Emmaus Baptist Church of Dudley.  She was a talented seamstress, cake decorator, floral arranger and oil painter.  She enjoyed creating items for her family and friends. 

Funeral Services to celebrate her life will be held Monday, January 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Willoughby officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the church fellowship.

From her first marriage to the late Norwood Strickland, Ada had three children: Donnie (Olivia) Strickland, Dannie (Vicky) Strickland of NC and daughter, Miranda (Wayne) Hawkins of Virginia.  She was blessed with seven grandchildren, Clark (Lori) Strickland, Natalie (Chad) Blackmon, Jamie Lewis, Edye Kornegay, of NC, DeLacy Hawkins, Rosanna (Robert) Winner of Virginia and Leah (Conrad) Boyle of  Washington: 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.   She also leaves behind one brother, Carl (Rosemary) Massey of Newton Grove, brother-in-law Ron Moore and sister-in-law Glenda Taylor, both of SC.  Her children send special thanks to Harold Batten, James Coleman and all of her hospice care givers.
