County’s Financial Reporting Honored By GFOA

(GDN) — Wayne County is very proud of its financial record-keeping and reporting. 

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recently announced it has awarded the Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the County of Wayne for its annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30th, 2020. 

County Manager Craig Honeycutt praised the efforts of the Finance Department at the last county board meeting.

Honeycutt thanked the Finance Department for everything they do to support all the other county departments.

Wayne County Finance Director Allison Speight says the county has “a legacy of great financial reporting.”

Speight went on to commend her staff, which she called “a team.”

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

This is the 25th year the Wayne County Finance Department has been awarded the certificate.
