Wrestling: Rosewood Wins Charger Duals Tournament

 The Rosewood High School wrestling team traveled to Ayden-Grifton High School on the last day of 2021 to compete in the annual Charger Duals tournament.

The Eagles wrestled five duals on the day and came away with a perfect 5-0 record and the tournament championship. The Eagles were the only 1A team in the tournament, and Rosewood rolled over East Carteret 66-12, South Lenoir 72-12 and West Craven 78-0.

Things got more interesting against West Carteret with the Eagles prevailing 56-24. In what proved to be the championship match the Eagles stormed to an early lead in the lower weight classes against Cary High School and came away with a hard fought 45-31 win.

Nine Eagle starters came away with unblemished records on the day. Five Eagle had a 5-0 record including: Jason Kennedy (106lb), Sebastian Blea (120lb), Logan Tortual (126lb), Gavin Davis (138lb), and Tyler Parrish (195lb). Four other Eagles were 4-0 on the day including: Michael Linko (132lb), Giovani Rivera (145lb), Keovin Vance (152lb), and Matthew Wade (285lb).

The Eagles return to the mat on Wednesday with a conference Tri at Neuse Charter then travel to West Johnston on Friday to compete in the Wildcat Invitational.
