December 26, 2021, 83, Goldsboro –

Margie Ann Smith Jackson was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, December 26, 2021. She was born in Wayne County to the late Stedman and Alease Vinson Smith on November 14, 1938. In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her brother, Jimmy Smith.

Margie was a valuable employee of Dupont for 35 years. Following her retirement, she volunteered with the American Cancer Society in the Road to Recovery Program and with the Pennies for Angels Program.

A long-time member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, Margie faithfully served her Lord through the ministries of the church. Always present when the doors were open, you could find Margie throughout the church taking care of any needs. For many years, she was the director of the Woods Grove Senior Citizens Group and most recently the Widows and Widowers Ministry.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Margie’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Barry Teague officiating. Interment will be on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Margie is survived by her sister-in-law, Edna Smith of Goldsboro; niece, Pam Gatlin and husband Gary of Goldsboro; great-nephew, Tyler Gatlin and wife Alyssa; and great-great-nephew, Elliot Gatlin.
