Peggy Brooks Carraway Dawson

Peggy Brooks Carraway Dawson

December 22, 2021, 83, Goldsboro –

Peggy Brooks Carraway Dawson was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. She was born in Greene County to the late Roy and Ethel Mae Brooks Carraway on October 24, 1938. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Edward Dawson.

Peggy dedicated her life to helping others as a nurse in the surgery department at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Her job duties were boundless, as she cared for the physical and mental well-being of her patients and served as their advocate, confidant, and friend. Joining the ranks of fellow nurses in the profession, she was truly the glue that held things together in the department for over 35 years.

A long-time member of First Free Will Baptist Church, Peggy faithfully served her Lord through the ministries of the church. Always present when the doors were open, you could find Peggy seated in the chancel as a member of the choir, teaching Sunday school, and serving as the President of the Women’s Auxiliary.

Time spent with her family was one of Peggy’s ultimate joys. No better titles were ever given to her than “Mama” and “Grandma”. Family was always a top priority in her life, and the love she displayed for each of them was incomparable.

A private graveside service for the family will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Hollywood Cemetery in Farmville, NC.

Peggy is survived by her son, Michael Dawson and wife Erika of Greenville; daughter, Robin Dawson of Greenville; grandchildren, Elijah Dawson and Ezekiel Dawson; and sister, Donnie Caroon and husband Dan of Raleigh.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in her memory to First Free Will Baptist Church, 604 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
