Joan Sutton Lane, 74, passed away Monday, December 20, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born in Wayne County on June 28, 1947, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Isabell Worrell Sutton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Sutton Edwards and step-son, Richard Edward Pate.
Joan is survived by her husband, William H. “Pete” Lane, Jr.; brother, Robert Wayne Sutton and wife, Rose; step-children, Lisa Pate Wells, Neal Lane, Eric Lane, and Lori Ann Lane; nieces Wanda Deans and Cathy Sutton; and numerous extended family members.

Joan retired from Wayne Memorial Hospital where she worked as a computer analyst. She attended Pikes Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church.

A service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 23, 2021 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Wayne Memorial Park.
