NCDHHS Secretary Suggests Measures To Keep Holiday Gatherings Healthy

(GDN) — Health officials say you should keep COVID-19 precautions in mind as you prepare to gather with family and friends for the holidays.

N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen offered some advice for safe holiday celebrations:

  • Get tested 1-2 days before gatherings
  • Keep gatherings small
  • Gather outdoors when possible
  • If gathering indoors, keep windows and doors open if possible to increase air flow

Cohen says people should only travel if they’ve been vaccinated and tested negative for COVID 1-2 before traveling.

She also urges everyone to continue wearing masks in public indoor places – especially medical grade masks.

Dr. Cohen has warned it will be possible for North Carolina to record over 10,000 new coronavirus cases per day with the oncoming omicron variant.
