Volunteers Place Wreaths On Graves In State Veterans Cemetery (PHOTO GALLERY)

(GDN) — The weather was perfect Saturday morning as more than 250 people came together from the annual Wreaths Across America Ceremony held at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro. Volunteers and staff started to arrive early to get ready for the ceremony. Bob Murphy, President of the Wayne County Veterans and Patriots Coalition opened up the ceremony with a warm welcome to the crowd. The Presentation of the Colors was performed by the American Legion Riders of Wayne County Chapter 11, followed by the singing of the National Anthem by  Shirley Proctor. The Wayne County Wreath Committee chairperson Tawnya Tucker said they were able to get over 1,700 wreaths for Wayne County this year. Tucker was very pleased to see such a large turnout of people on Saturday.
