Local Wreaths Across America Ceremonies Set For Saturday

(GDN) — Wreaths will be laid on the graves of veterans at three area cemeteries this weekend. 

American Legion Post 541 in Pikeville will be conducting the Wreaths Across America Ceremony at 11 AM on Saturday, December 18, at Pikeville Cemetery. The scheduled speakers include Col. D. Hall, and Wayne County Commissioner’s Wayne Aycock and Barbara Aycock.  The Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Honor Guard will present the Colors and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office rifle team will fire a salute. Haley Short will sing the National Anthem and Eric Goins will play the bagpipes.

Also on Saturday, December 18, the Wayne County Veterans and Patriots Coalition will hold a Wreath Laying Day Ceremony at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 12 PM.  Then, the coalition will lay the remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s fallen heroes.

At 3 PM on Saturday, the coalition has also planned to lay wreaths at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.  No ceremony is planned at this location.
