(North Carolina News Network) — Time is running out to get your package in the mail in time to reach its destination before Christmas.

2.3 billion pieces of mail are expected to be delivered this week.

Phillip Bogenberger of the U.S. Post Office tells ABC11 says that Wednesday was the deadline for group shipping.  

He says first-class mail and packages deadline is this Friday. Priority mail is Saturday. 

Bogenberger says it can take an average of 2.7 days to get your mail to its destination.
