Men’s Basketball: Trojans Defeat Lees-McRae College

BANNER ELK – The University of Mount Olive men’s basketball team defeated the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College 92-75 on Tuesday. The win improves the Trojans record to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

INSIDE THE SCORE

UMO came out strong in the first half by gaining an 8-0 lead with 17:54 remaining in the half. The Bobcats responded with a 6-0 run to make it 8-6 with 16:20 remaining, but Mount Olive stayed in control for the remainder of the half, not allowing the Bobcats within five.

The Trojans headed into halftime with a 17-point lead, 49-32.

Mount Olive continued to feed of its momentum from the opening half, as a three-pointer from Derreco Miller increased UMO’s lead to 52-32. The Trojans never took their foot off the gas and went on to defeat the Lees-McRae 92-75.

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS

Cole Johnson led the Trojans with 18 points and six rebounds, while Matthias Caver grabbed seven rebounds.

BOBCATS LEADERS

The Bobcats were led by London England with 13 points.

The Trojans took advantage of their second-chance points with 25, while the Bobcats had seven.
