Incident At Seymour Johnson AFB Resolved, Berkeley Gate Reopens

(GDN) — An incident at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base led to a gate closure and a shelter-in-place Wednesday morning. According to a Facebook post, emergency responders from the 4th Fighter Wing and the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the incident at the Berkeley gate. The area was evacuated and cordoned off to ensure the safety of the Airmen and civilians nearby. Base housing residents were instructed to shelter-in-place. Seymour Johnson says any incident that would pose a threat to its resources is automatically investigated by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the 4th SFS. The situation was resolved before noon on Wednesday and the base returned to normal operations. There were no personal injuries and no damage to property.
