Nellie Price

Nellie Price

December 10, 2021, 88, Seven Springs –

Nellie Price, 88, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family on Friday, December 10, 2021. Nellie was born in Wayne County to the late Henry and Mabel Price on October 9, 1933. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Harry Gautier; grandson, Travis Smith; great-grandson, Sha Gautier; twin brother, Carl Ray Price; and two infant sisters.

As the rock of her family, Nellie kept everybody straight and together. She worked hard all of her life, and instilled the value of hard work into each of her children. Taking care of her family was her life’s mission.

Always keeping a pristine home, Nellie believed that there was a place for everything and that everything had a place. She cared for her brother’s home as well, making sure his home was as spotless as hers.

An excellent cook, her family looked forward to every dish that came from her kitchen. Even when her cooking days had past, her family still asked for a pan of her oven-baked cornbread, for nobody could do it better.

Riding around from place to place with her family conjured many pleasant memories from Nellie’s life. Whether riding in the car or sitting on her front porch, listening to Nellie’s life stories could engage you for hours.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at Rouse Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 13, 2021. The family will receive friends from 6:00-6:45 prior to the service. Committal will be on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Pineview Cemetery, Seven Springs.

Nellie is survived by her daughters, Ginger Price, Joan Taylor and husband, Bruce, and Wendy Gautier; grandchildren, Chris Gautier, Beth Broadhead, Shannon McDowell, Scotty Price, Wayne Taylor, Mindy Mills, and Terry Smith, Jr.; and 19 great grandchildren.
