The management and staff of Serenity Memorial Funeral Home & Cremations join with the Smith and connected families to announce the earthly transition of Ms. Mary Holden Smith, 86. Ms. Smith transitioned at the Wayne UNC Health Care, Goldsboro, NC.
Ms. Mary Holden Smith Bean, was born to Bessie Holden and Thomas Tot Dunn in Wake County, NC. She was affectionately known as Dink.
She received her education in the Wake County Public Schools and she enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, being with family, and helping those in need.
She was married to the late Albert Sane Smith and to this union they shared ten children.
She was a member of the Bible Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ralph Mumford.
She was preceded in death by;2 sons, Timmy Smith, and Melvin Smith, 3 brothers: John Holden, Thomas Dunn, J.T. Holden; 4 sisters, Lucille Ford, Pearlie Mae Burrell, Clarice Barnes, and Emmarine Ellis.
She leaves to carry on her legacy: her spouse, Willie James Bean, her children: Junior Lee Smith, Virginia Smith Griffin, Frances Best (Marvin), Mary Ann Smith, Joyce Woodard, (Dave), Clara Smith, Timothy “Lil Boo” Smith, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren , and great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren and five generations of her lineage to carry on her legacy to include a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
