GFD Responds To Structure Fire At Case Farms

GFD Responds To Structure Fire At Case Farms

Just after 3:30 PM Monday, Goldsboro Fire Department units were dispatched to a structure fire at 330 Westbrook Road, which is owned by Case Farms. Upon the arrival of the initial fire units, it was quickly recognized that additional units were needed, and a second alarm was called for. Five engines, one tower, a command unit, and other staff vehicles responded to place 25 GFD personnel on scene. Since this depleted the on-duty assets of the Goldsboro Fire Department, volunteer units were called to stand-by for other events that may occur in the City.

Crews were on scene for a little over five hours. One Case Farms employee reported a slight injury that was treated on the scene. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. Damage is estimated to be around $600,000.

Belfast, El-Roy, Mar-Mac and Saulston volunteer fire departments had personnel ready to respond for assistance with other emergencies. These units responded to an additional report of a structure fire and a fire alarm during this time. The city appreciates and remain thankful to our firefighting family for assisting the department and the citizens of Goldsboro.
