(GDN) — Wayne County is considered to be in “Severe Drought” as dry conditions persist throughout North Carolina.  The latest map from the U.S. Drought Monitor shows the “Severe Drought” conditions encompass nearly half of the state.  The latest drought map was released on Thursday, so it does not take into account any rainfall received over the past weekend.
