Wrestling: Rosewood Competes In Pierce-Davis Memorial Tournament

Over the weekend, the Rosewood wrestling team traveled to North Pitt High School to participate in the 30th Annual Pierce-Davis Memorial Tournament.

Rosewood had 13 wrestlers compete in the 17-team event. When the tournament was over, the Eagles had 11 placers in the tournament.

Jason Kennedy (113lbs), Logan Tortual (132lbs), Kaleb Davis (160lbs), and Matthew Wade (285lbs) all finished undefeated on the day and earned first place honors.

Gavin Davis (138lbs) and Ryan Deloach (170lbs) finished in second place in their respective weight classes to earn the silver medal.

TJ Ruffino (126lbs), Giovani Rivera (145lbs), Keovin Vance (152lbs), and Tyler Parrish (220lbs) all battled back to take the third-place bronze medal. Brayden Holmes (120lbs) placed fourth in his first-ever tournament.

Rosewood finished second in the team standings behind a strong Currituck County team. Logan Tortual was also named tournament Most Outstanding Wrestler.

The Eagles return to the mat on Wednesday when they travel to Hunt for a tri-meet with Southern Wayne. On Friday, Rosewood will host the Joe Nassef Memorial JV Wrestling Event as a prelim to Saturday’s USAF-Eagle Invitational Tournament.

Action will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and 9:15 a.m. on Saturday.
